About this course

The American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support course helps the paediatric healthcare provider develop the knowledge and skills needed to manage critically ill infants and children efficiently and effectively, resulting in improved outcomes.

Skills taught include recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk of cardiopulmonary arrest, the systematic approach to paediatric assessment, effective respiratory management, defibrillation and synchronised cardioversion, intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration, and effective resuscitation team dynamics.

Features & benefits

  • The main focus of PALS is prevention: the assessment, recognition and stabilisation of paediatric victims at risk of severe cardiopulmonary distress.
  • Video-based simulation lets you see and hear critically ill children you may not often come into contact with, so you can recognise the symptoms and begin stabilisation before arrest.
  • Instructor-led discussion and simulation, with skills and learning stations to practise and complete.

What you'll practise

  2. Respiratory compromise and arrest: recognition & management
